LUST
The Homegrown Album (1980)
A 'Battle Of The Bands' compilation sponsored by KDF, the dominant rock station in Nashville at the time. LUST, my first hard rock band, took first place and landed two songs on this rare disc: "Hooker" & "Speed Demon".
STEELER
Cold Day In Hell/Take Her Down (1981 - Ravage Records)
45rpm single released independently got a rave review from powerful British rock critic Geoff Barton and airplay on Los Angeles radio, propelling Steeler to the top of the early 80's L.A. Metal scene. Available: click on cover
STEELER
Metal Massacre (1981 - Metal Blade Records)
"Cold Day In Hell" appeared on the first edition of this compilation of L.A. Metal which also contained the first recorded releases from Metallica, Ratt, and others. After the initial pressing our track was replaced by Black N Blue's "Chains Around Heaven".
STEELER
STEELER (1983 - Shrapnel Records)
This Metal milestone was the first album from both Ron Keel and guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen. It is listed by the Recording Industry Association of America as the biggest selling independent release of all time. Available: click on cover
KEEL
U.S. Metal IV (1984 - Shrapnel Records)
The fourth in Mike Varney's guitar hero series showcased KEEL's first of three recorded versions of the song "Speed Demon".
KEEL
Lay Down The Law (1984 - Shrapnel Records)
The debut release from KEEL led to the band's signing a major label record deal and caught the attention of KISS's Gene Simmons.
KEEL
The Right To Rock (1985 - Gold Mountain/A&M Records)
KEEL's major label debut, produced by Gene Simmons, became the fastest selling debut album in A&M Records' history and reached BillBoard's Hot 100 Chart, while the title track became a radio and MTV hit. It was re-released on CD last summer by Metal Mayhem Records. Available: click on cover
KEEL
The Final Frontier (1986 - Gold Mountain/MCA Records)
Also produced by Gene Simmons, this album contained the hits "Because The Night" and "Tears Of Fire", and featured guest appearances by Joan Jett, Jaime St. James, and others. Great songs and production, stunning cover art by John Taylor DisMukes, live photos by Neil Zlozower, and a bold conceptual direction, THE FINAL FRONTIER remains my personal favorite of all the KEEL albums.
KEEL
Tears Of Fire (1986 - JVC Records)
A greatest hits collection released to commemorate our headline tour of Japan.
KEEL
Keel (1987 - Gold Mountain/MCA Records)
KEEL teamed with superstar producer Michael Wagener to make this the best sounding of the KEEL recordings. I am very proud of the vocal work, especially "It's A Jungle Out There" and "If Love Is A Crime", while "United Nations" and "I Said The Wrong Thing (To The Right Girl)" are two of my favorite compositions. "Somebody's Waiting" was the album's only single and video.
KEEL
Dudes Movie Soundtrack (1987 - MCA Records)
Yet another mega producer, Kevin Beamish, produced KEEL's blistering version of "Rock N' Roll Outlaw", the signature song from this offbeat punk/western film directed by Penelope Spheeris starring Jon Cryer and Daniel Roebuck. The album also featured tracks by W.A.S.P. and Steve Vai.
KEEL
Soft Side Of Hard Rock (1988 - Mercury Records)
This compilation of hard rock ballads features "Tears Of Fire" along with hits by Bon Jovi, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and more
KEEL
Larger Than Live (1989 - Gold Castle Records - 1998 - DeRock Records)
Six new studio tracks included a cover of Humble Pie's "Fool For A Pretty Face" with guest vocals by Kevin DuBrow and Jaime St. James, plus live versions of "The Right To Rock", "Cold Day In Hell", "Rock N' Roll Outlaw", and more. Gold Castle only manufactured 30,000 units which sold out immediately. DeRock Records re-released this disc in 1998.
FAIR GAME
Bad Channels Movie Soundtrack (1991 - Moonstone Records)
This film and soundtrack album features "Somewhere In The Night" and "Blind Faith" (written by Marc Ferrari & Tommy Thayer); the all-girl band and I also appeared in the sci-fi flick from Full Moon Entertainment. These songs are also on the FAIR GAME: Beauty & The Beast CD released in 2000 by Metal Mayhem Records.
RONNIE LEE KEEL
Western Country (1995 - Working Class Entertainment)
My Country Music debut. This was a true labor of love and listening to it today is just as satisfying as recording it was - I'm very proud of these songs and the experiences which inspired them. Several tracks, most notably "My Horse Is A Harley", have been licensed by Marc Ferrari's MasterSource company for use in many movies and television shows.
This CD will be available in its entirety on "Ronnie Lee Keel: The Country Years", a CD compilation scheduled for release in March 2003
RONNIE LEE KEEL
New Country (1995 - New Country)
The song "Last Call" was featured on this compilation which also showcased new music from Lorrie Morgan, Kenny Chesney, and Rodney Crowell.
SABER TIGER
Project One (1997 - Fandango Records)
For this intense Metal disc I teamed with Japanese guitar hero Akihito Kinoshita to produce the heaviest record of my career. My favorite tracks are "Ride Like The Wind", "It's Your World", and "Give Me All Your Love Tonight".
KEEL
Keel VI - Back In Action (1998 - DeRock Records)
Unreleased tracks, outtakes and demos compiled from the vaults - we reunited for guitar tracks, background vocals, and I wrote lyrics for and sang the track "Reason To Rock".
THE RAT'LERS
Thick As Thieves (1998 - Twang Town Records)
This is a kick-ass Country/Rock disc with excellent songs by Ric Kipp and great musicianship and production, released in conjunction with our 1998 European tour.
